STATE COLLEGE — The local Senior Pirates finished off the DBacks 11-3 on Sunday thanks in part to Jim Dunlap, who drove in four runs on a double in the second and a home run in the seventh.
Mike Morgan plated the first tally in the opening frame. After a lead off single to right, he stole second and came across on a bloop single to right, courtesy of Brock Porter. The second produced three more scores, a double from Dunlap brought in PJ Holberg and Corey Mennett followed when he scampered home on a wild pitch.
A Porter double in the fourth produced another run and Porter came around on a fielders’ choice after stealing third. Dunlap hit a one strike offering high over the left field fence in the seventh to run the score to 10-3. Porter doubled in the final run to push the score to 11-3 and the final score as Holberg threw 10 pitches to close the door on the win.
Holberg went 2-3 at the dish and Porter was 3-5 with four RBIs.
Next Sunday, the Bucs close the season with a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. in State College. They will face last season champs, the Rays, in a seven-inning duel followed by another makeup game vs the Tigers at 7 pm. This will finish the regular season.
The Pirate record currently stands at 8-2 and they are in second place in the league.
