Chestnut Ridge’s Ava Whysong runs her way to victory in the Lady Lions’ opening meet with wins over Penn Cambria and Bishop Carroll, Wednesday.

SCHELLSBURG — The Chestnut Ridge girls’ cross country team picked up a pair of wins in Wednesday’s LHAC meet.

The Lady Lions topped Penn Cambria, 26-31, and Bishop Carroll, 11-27.

The boys’ team split between the two clubs, topping Bishop Carroll, 7-18. Penn Cambria bested Chestnut Ridge, 25-36.

Ava Whysong took top honors of the girls’ team for the locals, running in 22:52. Abby Emerick finished second for the Lady Lions, 23:19.

Calan Bollman and August Anderson also took the top two spots in the boys’ race as well. Bollman won with a time of 17:37, while Anderson was second, 18:14.

Chestnut Ridge runs again next Wednesday when the Lions host Central Cambria and Bishop Guilfoyle.
