Penny College

Denton, TexasOn Friday, May 15, 2020, Penny Kathleen College, 74, loving mother of one son, passed away at The Vintage Senior Center in Denton, Texas after an eight-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Penny was born at the MacDill AFB hospital in Tampa, Florida, on Sept. 5, 1945, to Paul and Mary Ellen College and had two sisters, Janna and Deborah.

She grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett High School in 1963.

She was married to B. Randall Grubb from December 1963 to February 1974 and had one son, Jeffrey. She was a devoted mother, who worked and sacrificed constantly to provide her son with the best life she could.

She had resided at The Vintage for the past eight years after relocating to Texas in 2012 to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Ellen, and by her sister, Deborah College-Johnson. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Grubb, daughter-in-law Laurie, granddaughters Tatum and Taryn, sister and brother-in-law Janna and Wes Householder, two nieces, two nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life memorial service later in the summer at their home in Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Penny’s honor to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (
