New Paris

Gary T. “Chico” Ake, 79, of New Paris died on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Hillview Nursing Home.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1941, in Cessna, a son of the late Tolbert L. and Thelma J. (Bloom) Ake.

On May 2, 1969, in Bedford, he married Dixie (Whisner) Ake, who survives along with a son, Justin Ake, and wife, Kimberly, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Tyson, Jocelyn and Alaina; one brother, Galen E. Ake of Everett; two sisters: Linda J. Koontz and husband, Mike, of New Enterprise, and Vicki L. Imler and husband, Steve, of Everett; one nephew, Earl John Davis of New Paris; and 13 other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard and Clark Ake, and one sister, Hannah Mae Harbour.

Chico served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Everett Church of God. He worked as a truck driver for McQuaide out of Johnstown. Chico enjoyed horses and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Hillview Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided to Chico and the family.
