Martinsburg, formerly of East Freedom

Florence E. Sollenberger, 90, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of East Freedom, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at the home. She was born May 6, 1929, in Cross Keys, daughter of the late Burleigh and Golda P. (Stiffler) Grove. She married Joseph F. Sollenberger May 14, 1948, in Cross Keys. He passed away Jan. 27, 2006.

Surviving are a daughter, Connie Dick and husband Gregory of Everett; a son, Joseph F. Sollenberger Jr. and wife Remona of Elizabethtown; 3 grandchildren, Jan and Justin Stauffer and David Sollenberger; and 3 great-grandchildren, Liam Stauffer and Laura and Elizabeth Sollenberger. She was preceded in death by siblings Robert “Ellis,” Ruth, Burleigh Jr. and Howard “Joe.”

Florence was a member of the Lower Claar Church of the Brethren and a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed hand crafts and decorations, dolls and working in her flower gardens. Florence was also a gilded quilter.

Friends will be received Monday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service at the Holsinger Church of the Brethren with Pastor Gerald McCuller Jr. officiating.

Interment at Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Claysburg Area Public Library. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom.
