Anna Kathryn (McIntyre) Burkett passed away Jan. 5, 2021, in Northport, Alabama, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Six Mile Run.

She was a 1956 graduate of Saxton Liberty High School, where she was a cheerleader and class officer. She attended the Altoona School of Commerce in Altoona after which she worked at the Department of Education in Harrisburg.

She was of the Methodist faith and was raised in the Six Mile Run Methodist Church, where she was married to William Lynn Burkett on May 23, 1959.

She was an avid golfer, playing nearly every day, but her greatest passion was being a mom. She raised her two daughters and cared for her two grandsons when they were young.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Waddell (Jeff) and Jeanette Oelkers (Rick); two grandsons, Luke and Joshua Waddell (Caleigh); two brothers, John McIntyre (Sally) and Tim McIntyre (Janice); along with her Burkett family: John, (Esther) Becky, (Philip) Nancy (Joel) and Jim. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Helen, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lynn Burkett, and her parents, Drexel “Bud” and Grace McIntyre.

After the loss of her husband in 2015, Anna had a faithful companion in her golden retriever, Molly, who was always at her side. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that any memorial donations be made to Mom’s Pets, c/o Laura Meyers, 120 Dudley Road, Six Mile Run, PA 16679 or the Bedford County Humane Society, 182 Bohn Road, Bedford, PA 15522.

Services be held after restrictions are lifted from the COVID virus.
