The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce’s “Government: It’s Your Business” breakfast Wednesday morning has been canceled.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who had been the scheduled featured speaker, canceled due to a last-minute criminal matter. A reschedule date was not immediately announced. Also, the Chamber’s Business After Hours events will resume Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fort Bedford Museum. Cost $6 for Chamber members and $16 for not-yet members. Chicken barbecue dinners will be served by Cumberland Valley Parks and Rec from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 24 at the park. Dinners include one-half chicken, baked beans, and mac and cheese for $10.

Breezewood VFW Post 8333 Auxiliary will serve barbecue rib dinners July 31, with order pickup from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the post. Each dinner includes one-half rack of ribs, scalloped potatoes, green beans and applesauce. Cost is $15 per dinner. Orders are due by July 24. Call or text orders to 814-977-7619.
Shawnee State Park to host program.
The park will present “The Earth’s Cataclysmic Journey” at 7 p.m. July 25 at the historic and interpretive center at the main office. The program will focus on the explosive and crushing forces that have shaped the planet since its beginning and will offer a look at how volcanism, earthquakes and mountain building have gone hand-in-hand with plate tectonics in forming Earth.
