Trick-or-treat is set for New Paris Borough, Hyndman Borough and Alum Bank.
Alum Bank trick-or-treat will be Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Porch lights must be on to receive trick-or-treaters. Trick-or-treat will be observed in the Hyndman Borough on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. for all Hyndman-area children up to and including sixth grade. Halloweeners in New Paris should visit between 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Today is “Wear Purple Day” in Bedford County.
According to Your Safe Haven Inc., Oct. 11, has been a day set aside to show support for victims and survivors of domestic violence, and the organization is asking those in the county to wear purple to stand in solidarity with victims and survivors of domestic violence.
The Bedford Gazette is collecting donations for first responders.
The Gazette is collecting cases of water and Gatorade for first responders in the county that will be distributed to all of the fire and EMS units in honor of Fire Prevention Month. Those who donate can receive a $5 voucher for a new subscription or renewal of The Bedford Gazette. One voucher per person. Donations will be collected throughout the month of October. No monetary donations will be accepted.
Halloween 200 drawing to benefit the Bedford County community and Christmas For Kids program will be held Oct. 26 at the Bedford American Legion.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., while the meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the drawing will be held at 7 p.m. Cost is $15. There also will be a Chinese auction and music by disc jockey Spinner. Tickets are available at Heps Custom Cycle. For more information, call 624-0006.
