SCHELLSBURG — What a difference a week can make.

Schellsburg and Old Log Church Historical Society’s annual Christmas event, scheduled for Dec. 1, was postponed well in advance because of weather forecasts that called for a major ice storm.

The storm never materialized, but a cold rain covered the area for much of the weekend.

Such was not the case on Sunday, when the celebrations took place amid sunshine and mild temperatures.

The event included a tree lighting, a snowman decorating contest, visits with Santa, plenty of food and holiday snacks, and the society’s annual special recognition of club members.

This year’s honorees were Ralph and Peggy (Wahl) Miller, who were married in 1962. They have been active not only in the historical society, but also the United Church of Schellsburg and Shawnee Valley Ambulance.
