Bedford Valley Assembly God will be holding “Drive-In” services in the church parking lot weekly on Sundays until the church can open back up indoors. Service time is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The services will be held rain or shine.

Special Mother’s Day service will be celebrated by Time Ministries Church live online through http://www.Facebook.com/TimeMinistriesChurch and the church’s YouTube channel on Mother’s Day, May 10, at 10:30 a.m. TMC Alive Drama Team has a special presentation titled “A Mother’s Day Prayer.” Gifts for mothers and ladies have already been prepared. They will be handed out on the first Sunday the church reconvenes in its physical building. Family Fun Nights at Time Ministries Church will resume as soon as the state restrictions due to the COVID-19 are lifted.

Faith Baptist Church of Altoona will serve free hot lunches on Saturday as a ministry outreach for people in need. The meals will be available for pick up each Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through May 16. A hot main food item, as well as fruit and other items, will be provided for each individual present on a first-come, first-served basis. Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford has suspended Sunday morning liturgies and other “in-person” gatherings throughout the week. Parishioners and friends are invited to access a variety of online resources posted weekly on Trinity’s website at www.trinitylutheranbedford.com. The resources include Sunday morning “E:Worship,” Sunday school lessons for children/families, and “Pastor’s Ponderings.” Two online live Bible studies are held each week: Sundays at 9 a.m., The Prophet Amos, and Wednesdays at 6 p.m., St Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. The church office provides charitable assistance, particularly shelter, utility and food needs, in partnership with The Bedford Service Unit of the Salvation Army. In ecumenical partnership with neighboring congregations, Tuesday evening’s weekly free community dinners are served as take-home meals, available at 5 p.m., at the church’s (east) Penn Street door. Records of members, births, baptisms, confirmations, communicants, marriages and death for Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dutch Corner, Bedford, have been compiled and published in a book. Families included in the book are Anderson, Beegle, Claycomb, Deffibaugh, Dibert, Fetter, Hershberger, Imler, Reighard, Smith, Walter and Weyant, who were among members of the church when it was founded in the early 1800s. The 325-page book sells for $25, plus $5 for shipping and handling. It also includes an index of 40 pages. All proceeds from the book sales will be donated to the church. The book can be ordered by making a check payable to Messiah Lutheran Church and mailing it to Messiah Lutheran Church, c/o Betty L. Johnstone, 212 Concord Drive, Bedford, PA 15522. Or patrons may contact any member of Messiah Lutheran Church to purchase a copy. The church was the home church of Indian Eve and family after her return from captivity. Eve cooked for the men building the church. She is buried in the church cemetery.

Copies of a directory for the Woods Church Cemetery are available by calling 847-2295. Cost is $10, with proceeds going to the Woods Church. The directory has information about all of the graves, including the unmarked ones.
