Cove Cause for Cancer is getting ready to party.

The organization will host Party at the Park on Saturday from noon to midnight at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park in Martinsburg.

The event is aimed to bring the community together and to celebrate the first year of fundraising.

There will be live entertainment throughout the day and will include: Matt Pletcher, The Gathering, Clay McIlnay, Angela Blanchard, John Topper, Heirsman, Drew Dodson, Route 869 and Kenton Sitch Band.

Events will topped off with a glow pool party from 9:30-11:30 p.m. With tickets available at the door for $8, which includes snacks and drinks, music by Electrified Sound, fireworks and glow accessories.

The event will also feature food trucks, and there will be park passes available for purchase for swimming, skating and bowling for $10 for students and $12 for adults.

Special recognition of survivors and caregivers will also occur during the event.

Travis Russell, one of the organizers, said that about $12,000 has been raised so far, and added that organizers are thrilled with all of the local support and are beginning to plan for next year.

All of the funds raised will be disbursed through the Bobs Perks Fund and the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Treatment Center of Altoona voucher program, which will work to verify that the individuals are cancer patients and live in Blair or Bedford counties.

A portion of this year’s funds will also go to the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute through the organization’s connection with Girl’s Night Out with funds going towards breast cancer research. Russell added that the group will try to give a portion to research each year, but the cause may change each year.
