Missing woman

Authorities are searching for a missing woman.

Local fire and police departments and other agencies searched throughout the day on Monday for a 68-year-old woman, identified on fliers circulated around the borough as Cathy Raley, pictured above, who was reported missing. According to the Bedford Fire Department’s Facebook site, she was last seen around 7 a.m. near Bedford High School. Authorities were searching in the borough and in the Bedford Township area near Briar Valley Road and Dutch Corner. She is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with a small build, dark hair mixed with gray. She was wearing a blue golf shirt and blue/green checkered shorts. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bedford County 911.

Annual service canceled.

The Annual Forefathers Day service at the Friends Cove United Church of Christ double brick church, Diehl Road, Bedford, has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. The service was scheduled for June 7.

Cruise-ins will be held throughout the summer months.

Cruise-ins will be held at 4 p.m. June 13 at Happy Hollow Restaurant, Saxton; 5 p.m. June 14 at Moon Glo II skating rink parking lot, Bedford; 11 a.m. June 20 at Thomas Chevrolet, Bedford; 5 p.m. July 12 at the Moon Glo II parking lot; 5 p.m. July 19 at A&W Sac Shop, Everett; 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Moon Glo II parking lot; 4 p.m. Aug. 16 at Landmark Restaurant, Bedford; 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Moon Glo II parking lot; and 5 p.m. Sept. 20 at the A&W Sac Shop.

Alumni invited to apply for scholarship.

Saxton Liberty High School Alumni Association is seeking applicants for its 2020 award. To be eligible, a student must be a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School, be a second-year college student enrolled in a college program leading to a four-year degree, be able to submit an official transcript of first-year grades and be able to return a completed application to the scholarship committee by July 13. Applications can be downloaded from the Tussey Mountain School District website or by emailing Wendy Gates at wgates@tmsd.net. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
