Couple has connection to site of helicopter crash.
A Bedford couple has followed Tuesday’s medical helicopter crash probably a little more closely than most people. Ronald and Mary Johnson of Bedford called Wednesday morning to report they have special connections to the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church, where the medical helicopter crashed Tuesday afternoon. Ronald and the former Mary Gross, who grew up in the Drexel Hill neighborhood of suburban Philadelphia, were married in the church on June 11, 1966. Ronald, a 1965 graduate, and Mary, a 1966 graduate, met while studying at Penn State University and married right after Mary graduated. Mary grew up in the Drexel Hill United Methodist Church. According to an Associated Press article published in Wednesday’s edition, the helicopter pilot crash landed without casualties. None of the four people on board, including an infant from Maryland, sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the article.
