Shawnee State Park’s lake drawdown will begin Monday.

The lake will be lowered about 5 feet to allow park maintenance staff to make repairs and improvements at the swimming beach and to conduct repairs to the dry hydrant at the Diehl Boat Launch. The lake will remain open for fishing and boating, but launching boats may be difficult and shoreline fishing may be limited. No other park facilities will be impacted by the drawdown. The projects are expected to be completed by Oct. 4.

Pennsylvania CareerLink’s Bedford County office will hold a job fair Sept. 25 in Everett.

The job fair will be held at the Everett Legion Home Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The location is 54 East 4th Avenue Everett, adjacent to Morrals Farm Supply.

Shawnee State Park will host a moonlight walk tonight.

The walk Sept. 12 will take place around the lake. Participants will meet at the beach entrance of the No. 2 parking lot at 7:30 p.m. Dogs are permitted and attendees should bring a flashlight. Anyone who has questions should stop by the office or call 733-4218 or 733-4892.

Third annual H&BT Rails to Trails Harvest Hayride planned.

The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Tatesville United Methodist Church. One-hour hayrides between Tatesville and the Cypher trailhead will move on the hour between 1 and 4 p.m. Cost will be $1 cost for children and $3 for adults. A traditional hay wagon will be available for rides along with two low-boy trailers which will allow for easier and handicapped accessibility. Pumpkin painting and other activities will be available, and there will be a raffle drawing at 5 p.m. Food will be prepared by Tatesville United Methodist Church.
