A Bedford Township road will be closed next week.

The Bedford Township supervisors have announced that Mountain Road will be closed periodically, starting June 17, for drainage tile replacement. Local traffic only will be permitted to travel on the road during the closure.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 W. Penn St. on Bedford’s Public Square, is celebrating its 250th Anniversary this weekend.

On June 16, the church will host The Feast of the Holy Trinity. A Festival Eucharist will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. followed immediately by the interment of the 250th Anniversary Time Capsule in the front garden of the church, containing items for a future generation of Trinitarians to open and explore, giving insight into the present life of the congregation. At 2 p.m., the principal 250th Anniversary Mass will be celebrated at the church. The Rev. Matthew Riegel, bishop of western Maryland and West Virginia, and former vicar of Trinity (1990-91) while a seminarian, will be the guest preacher. A brass choir and organ will share special music beginning at 1:40 p.m. and accompany the afternoon’s hymns and liturgy. Kid’s Choir and the Anthem Choir will also share special music. Following the time of praise and worship, a 250th anniversary banquet has been planned at the Bedford Elks Country Club. Mayor William Leibfreid has been invited to share a special “Mayoral Proclamation,” recognizing the significant milestone. Along with other refreshments, “Sestercentennial Ale”, specially brewed in celebration of the occasion by the Olde Bedford Brewing Company, will be revealed. Contact Trinity at 623-8813 or visit trinitylutheranbedford.com for more information about these special liturgies or any of the congregation’s ongoing ministries.
