The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Bedford County Fair, will open the fourth season of the Silver Lining Drive-In at the Fairgrounds this weekend..
The family friendly movies, scheduled for most summer Saturdays (except for Fair week) begin with a double header of “Top Gun” and “Top Gun: Maverick” on Saturday.
Additional films include Disney animated classics “Aladdin” and “101 Dalmatians”; action films “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Ghostbusters” and “Independence Day”; family favorites “The Sandlot,” “The Parent Trap” and “The Greatest Showman,” plus “Minions” and Jingle in July feature “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
“We are so excited for this summer’s movie series,” said Chamber President-CEO Kellie Goodman Shaffer. “This year’s films earned hundreds of votes during our social media polling, and we are thrilled to welcome families from throughout the region for another year of drive-in fun.
“And we’re so grateful to our local business community for your support of this project and the ongoing series. It truly would not be possible without you.”
The drive-in was built during the 2020 COVID lockdown through a massive community effort and made its debut on July 4 that year with “National Treasure.” It has become a summertime staple ever since.
