State police investigated an assault at the Bedford County Correctional Facility.

Police said Stephen Blackwood, 24, of Coral Springs, Florida, allegedly assaulted Myron Cottle, 30, of Everett, while they were both incarcerated at the jail on Feb. 25.

A Hopewell woman was scammed.

State police said the 65-year-old woman received a phone call from an unknown individual claiming to be a Norton Security employee. The unknown caller claimed he sent the victim too much money and asked her to send gift cards as a refund, saying he would be fired if the woman did not send money back to him. The state police news release said the woman had $6,000 in Walmart and Target gift cards stolen. Police in the release reminded the public not to respond to similar calls.

A Defiance man allegedly fled the scene of a crash.

State police said a Ford F-150XLT driven by James D. Bush, 47, crossed the center double lines of the Brumbaugh Road in South Woodbury Township and struck an oncoming GMC Acadia driven by Caitlyn M. Welty, 29, of Bedford. After the impact, Bush’s pickup truck went down an embankment and across a driveway, striking several trees and a wooden structure. Police said Bush used the property owner’s phone then fled the scene on foot. Welty and a 2-year-old girl were transported from the scene with injuries, police said.

A truck slid down a gravel drive.

State police said a Dodge Ram pickup belonging to James E. Layton, 77, of Uniontown, was legally parked along Oakridge Drive when it began to slide on gravel about 10:45 a.m. March 27. The truck slid into the driveway of 207 Hibbs Drive, striking a basketball hoop and then a Jeep Cherokee owned by Michael J. Feaster, 63, of Bedford. The truck came to a final stop on top of the Jeep, police said. The pickup had disabling front end damage, while the Jeep had disabling damage to its top and front end.

No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash along Business 220.

State police said a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Maria Cristina Millan Martinez, 58, of Bloomington, Indiana, struck the back of a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Robert J. O’Donnell, 56, of Carlisle, about 3:30 p.m. March 31. Police said O’Donnell’s truck was stopped for traffic and Millan Martinez failed to stop before striking the back of the vehicle.

A pickup struck a tree stump along Seifert Street in Bedford Township.

State police said the Chevrolet S10 driven by Charette M. Maro, 44, of Bedford failed to stop while backing out of a driveway at 128 Seifert Street and struck a tree stump on a neighboring property about 8 a.m. April 1. Police said Maro then left the scene without leaving proper information required by law.

A rear window was smashed.

State police said the rear window of a 2007 Dodge Caravan belonging to Matthew Henson of Everett was smashed sometime between March 31 and April 1. The value was $600. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 814-623-6133.

Tires were scattered along Smith Road in Napier Township.

State police said unknown suspect scattered 25 tires on the road and the side of the road on April 1. The tires were a variation of Goodyear P235/75R15, Dolglas 215/60R16, Grity P185/65r14 and Kenetica 215/60R17. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tpr. Luke Hoover at the Bedford state police barracks.

A Bedford man allegedly violated a court order.

State police were dispatched to a verbal dispute along Lincoln Highway in Bedford Township about 3:40 p.m. March 31. During the investigation, police learned the 45-year-old woman had a protection from abuse order against Charles Lantz, 38. Lantz was arraigned before a district judge and lodged in the Bedford County Correctional Facility, police said.

An oak table was stolen.

State police said an unknown suspect broke into a storage unit at 139 Industrial Boulevard sometime between Jan. 20 and March 20 and stole an oak table valued at $200. Police said the suspect cut through a padlock.

A Breezewood man was charged with harassment following an alleged altercation.

State police said Martez Gunby, 41, was charged following a physical altercation with a 27-year-old New Paris woman along Secrest Park Road in East Providence Township on March 29.

A Nissan Frontier crashed along Quaker Valley Road.

State police said Kevin J. Neary, 40, of Harrisburg lost control of the vehicle in icy road conditions about 8:30 p.m. April 1. The vehicle left the road and struck an embankment.
