Patty Wilson is an author, historian and paranormal researcher who has lived her entire life in Pennsylvania researching, investigating, lecturing and writing about the state’s extensive paranormal history.

Downtown Bedford Inc. will host historic tours with story-telling by Patty Wilson at 6:30 and 8 p.m. June 19 and June 26. Tickets for the tour are $15 and are available through Eventbrite.

Wilson is an author, historian and paranormal researcher who has lived her entire life in Pennsylvania researching, investigating, lecturing and writing about the state’s extensive paranormal history.

She works in psychology and has been investigating the paranormal for nearly 30 years.

To date, she has written 28 books, including “Haunted Pennsylvania,” “Pennsylvania’s Lost Treasures,” “The Big Book of Pennsylvania Ghost Stories” and “A Ghost Hunter’s Tales.” She has appeared on the Travel Channel’s “Mysterious Journeys”, Biography Channel’s “My Ghost Story” and has served as a consultant for the first episodes of “Ghost Hunters.”

Patty also hosts a Facebook page, The Paranormal Asylum, and co-hosts The Paranormalist Podcast with Kenny Dodson where they interview guests and share paranormal tales.

Tours will form at the gazebo on the town square next to the DBI office and check-in begins at 6:15 p.m.

According to Wilson the tour will be an easy walk that will start at the Bedford County Courthouse and go to different historic locations in town.

All of the stories she tells are from documented history and might even include a few ghost stories.

“When I started building these walks, I had to figure out what not tell because there’s so many stories in Bedford,” said Wilson.

Wilson has done historic and ghost story tours for about 10 years and said every property in town has a story to tell.

She likes to change up the stories, which means those that attend both nights of the tours might get different stories.

“When I do these walking tours, I want to give people a snapshot of what it looked like during the 1700s or other time periods,” said Wilson.

Wilson’s favorite stories to tell are of Captain James Smith and the black boys, Harris Hotel and the young brothers and Davey Lewis’s Cave.
