The Bedford Gazette has joined the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce’s #BedfordCountyStrong campaign with with an initiative that will see the Gazette offer $250,000 in matching funds for local advertisers.

As area businesses await the easing of orders imposing a statewide shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gazette will offer matching grants to help them reopen.

“We are deeply rooted in our business community and committed to doing all we can to bolster the efforts of our friends and neighbors as storefronts begin to open and customers return,” Gazette publisher Joseph Beegle said.

Beegle said the program will match up to $250,000 for businesses who purchase advertising in any of the Gazette’s publications in print and online.

The businesses must be locally owned and have no more than two locations in the area. The advertising match, which is available to new and existing customers, requires a minimum monthly expenditure. The match must occur in the same month as the expenditure, Beegle said.

“Getting the word out to customers that businesses are reopened will be crucial, but we realize advertising dollars may be scarce for companies facing so many other financial challenges,” Beegle said. “We hope these dollar-for-dollar grants will help ease a part of that burden.”

The Gazette will award the grants on a monthly basis now through June 30. For more information about the program and how to apply for a grant, visit www.BedfordGazette.com. More details also appear on today’s Page A12.
