Bedford County Players will host their second annual Season Gala May 9 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at The Hall At Kinton’s Knob. The evening will feature a “Roaring ’20s Speak Easy” theme. Players and patrons will be advised and encouraged to wear 1920s attire. The directors of the upcoming season will gather and announce their shows. Tickets are on sale now for the 5th Annual Winner’s Showcase at 7 p.m. May 21 and May 22 and 3 p.m. May 23 at Off Pitt Street Theater, Bedford. The showcase will feature the world premier of the first- and second-place winners and a detailed preview of the third-place winner from the annual One Act, play-writing competition. This year’s “Winner’s Showcase” is suitable for ages 14 and older. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Children’s auditions for Off Pitt Street Theater’s production of “Millie Monka & the Salmon Cannery” will be held sometime in June. More details will be announced at a later date.

Contra dance, similar to a square dance, to benefit Fix a Pet low-cost spay and neuter clinics has been postponed. Organizers will provide information at a later date once the dance has been rescheduled.

Pennsylvania Consort’s 2019-2020 Guest Artist Series concerts will end for the season with a 7:30 p.m. May 2 concert by Washington Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble at St. John’s United Church of Christ. Tickets are general admission with no assigned seating. Venue doors open at 6:45 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $4 for students and are available for purchase at the Bedford County Visitors’ Bureau in Bedford and at Lowers Pharmacy in Everett. Tickets purchased at the door cost $12 for adults and $5 for students. Bedford Arts Cooperative will host the first “Spring into Books” festival on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 110 W. Pitt St., Bedford. The festival will be followed by an authors’ and artists’ reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and an “Atomic Radio Show” at 7 p.m. featuring local author Tom Catalano.
