Bedford County Players will host auditions for the Christmas show, “Christmas Through the Years,” at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 and Sept. 16 at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, Penn Street. Use the side entrance of the church. There will be a need for singers, dancers and actors and a good joke teller. Adults, teens and children are needed. Also some back stage assistance will be needed. There are solos, duets, trios, quartets and full ensemble numbers. Also there are two skits: “The Legend of the Poinsettia” and “The Nativity.” Bring a prepared Christmas song, either with or without recorded music (no pianist available for tryouts). Show dates are Dec. 1 at the Grand Illumination at the Bedford Springs and Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 at the Bedford Church of the Brethren.

Rock the ‘Burg will be hosted by the Schellsburg Lions and Schellsburg and Old Log Church Historical Society from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at Schellsburg Community Park. The family event will featured a cornhole and horseshoe tournament, cruise-in, children’s games, food, basket raffles and a talent show.
Locality Gallery in Bedford is looking for new, one of a kind, imaginative works on the theme “We the People” to be included in an upcoming show. All artists’ interpretation of the theme and all media are accepted. The Bedford Arts Cooperative has the final say on works to be included in the show. Description of works should be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Oct. 13. Include photos, dimensions, title, medium, artist name and contact details and retail price for each work. There is no limit to the number of works submitted. “Politics can be Murder,” an interactive murder mystery fundraiser, will be presented by Off Pitt Street Theater Company, the Bedford Arts Cooperative and the Helen B. Hughes Foundation of Democratic Women at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at Locality Gallery. Guests will mingle, play games and complete challenges to win clues, interview high-profile personalities and solve a murder. The evening will feature music by “The Zillion Dollar Combo.” Tickets are limited and by pre-sale only. Tickets may be purchased online at OffPittStreet.com or purchased during the “Queen of Hearts Mixer” on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Golden Eagle Inn & Pub. Cost is $30 per person or $50 per couple.
