Fourteen named to list

Fourteen local residents have been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Slippery Rock University. They are Wayne Bloom from Everett, Leah Davidson from Bedford, Karli Davis from Alum Bank, Shay Decker from Everett, Taylor Flaugh from Roaring Spring, Sierra Foor from Roaring Spring, Olivia Horton from Everett, Hope Kaufman from Alum Bank, Kaitlyn Querry from Everett, Daphne Stayer from Bedford, Kailyn Thomas from Bedford, Tara Turkovich from Bedford, Emily Turkovich from Bedford and Desiree Willey from Roaring Spring. Students must achieve a 3.5 grade-point average to be named to the list.

Eighteen earn degrees

Eighteen area residents graduated with degrees on May 10 from Saint Francis University in Loretto. They are Dennis Billie, Clearville, Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership; Kale Burket, Claysburg, Master of Physician Assistant; Kylie Bussard, Hopewell, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; David Cain, Everett, Bachelor of Science in Health Science PA; Lauren Claycomb, Roaring Spring, Bachelor of Science in CE in Early Childhood Education; Hayley Cottle, Woodbury, Bachelor of Science in Health Science PA; Kale Dively, Bedford, Bachelor of Science in Social Work; Kaitlyn Fluke, Claysburg, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Caleb Grimes, Bedford, Master of Business Administration; Joshua Grimes, Bedford, Bachelor of Science in Health Science PA; Molly Harrison, Schellsburg, Master of Business Administration; Cory Kumpf, Imler, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science; Travis Leap, Hyndman, Master of Education; Caplin Lingenfelter, Roaring Spring, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; Emily McCoy, Alum Bank, Bachelor of Science in Health Science PA; Laura Replogle, Roaring Spring, Bachelor of Science in Biology; Margaret Stern, Roaring Spring, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; and Brooklynne Summers, Roaring Spring, Master of Business Administration.

McCoy named to list with 4.0

Justin McCoy, son of Greg and Diane McCoy of New Paris, has been named to the University of Virginia spring semester dean’s list with a 4.0 grade-point average. McCoy, a kinesiology major, has been accepted in the curry School of Education and Human Development and is a member of the university’s wrestling team. He is an All-ACC Wrestling Team member, National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American and is the university’s Wrestling Freshman of the Year. McCoy is a 2018 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School.


merick earns degree

Bryce Emerick of Hyndman was among more than 175 students who were conferred degrees during Marietta College’s virtual commencement ceremony on May 3. Emerick completed requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. He is also a graduate of HOPE for Hyndman Charter School.
