The Northern Bedford County school board is starting off the new year with a new member to their board.
Chris Conrath, 53, was sworn in in December. Conrath explained that this is not his first stint on the board, as he previously served for nine years.
He explained that he spent eight continuous years on the board then one year to finish a term of a board member that resigned.
“There were people in the community who had asked me to run,” Conrath said. “I originally took off because my kids were going to college and I wasn’t sure how much time I needed to devote to that, so I wanted to make sure that I gave my kids the amount of time that they needed going to college.”
Conrath said he has a devotion to public education.
“I believe in public education. It did well for my children, so I want to be a part of the community that helps further public education,” he said.
Conrath serves as a database administrator for Sheetz.
He and his wife of almost 30 years, Michelle, live in the Bakers Summit area and two children, Andrew and Bethany, who are twins.
