Bedford County Veteran’s Association will meet at 7 p.m. April 12 at the Saxton VFW.

Bloody Run Historical Society volunteer Barb Miller brings the new year in with a salute to Christmas past with her Everett Free Library historical display for January and February. Featured in the exhibit are handmade and homemade holiday greetings from her personal collection. It is titled “When you care enough, you make it yourself” and features a number of local residents. Bedford County Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will not in January. Meetings will resume on Feb. 10. The Bedford chapter will meet at Hoss’s Restaurant near the Bedford turnpike interchange on the second Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m., unless otherwise noted. Saxton Community Library board will meet at 7 p.m. March 9, May 11, July 13, Sept. 14 and Nov. 9.

“Everett in Pen and Ink” books and calendars of historic Everett are available at the Everett Free Library. The prices are $10 for books and $15 for calendars; both can be shipped anywhere for an additional charge. The illustrations for the items were done by local artists.

Take a Coat, Leave a Coat program is up and running at the Everett Free Library. There is a coat rack located inside the library filled with hats and coats in a variety of sizes. Anyone in need of a warm winter coat is invited to take whatever is needed, no questions asked. People with clean, gently-used coats or new hats and gloves are asked to donate them to the rack.

Sestercentennial Celebrations Committee has created a website that contains information about the upcoming 250th Anniversary of Bedford County celebrations planned for next year. The website, bedford250.com, also contains a calendar of events.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held at noon on Tuesdays at the Bedford Presbyterian Church Annex, 115 E. Penn St. Use the rear entrance to the second floor. People who think they may have a problem with alcohol are welcome to attend.

Everett VFW Post 2088 will host bingo nights every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The games are open to the public, however people must sign in. People may make reservations at 652-2144. Cost will be $1 per card for regular games and $5 per card for black outs. The new hours for the club will be from noon until 10 p.m.

Employees of the former Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Breezewood will meet at 11 a.m. on the second Monday at Mandy Jo’s Country Corral Restaurant, Everett.

Bedford County Vietnam Veterans Association meets at the Landmark Restaurant for breakfast at 9 a.m. on the third Thursday and for a meeting at 5 p.m. on the last Thursday.

Family Hospice offers free monthly Bereavement Support Group meetings on the last Tuesday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at ACTS Community Church, 169 Bedford Plaza Rd., Bedford. Registration is required by emailing ebersolec@upmc.edu or calling 814-947-7060.
