Parades scheduled.

The annual Bedford Elks Halloween Parade will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25; the rain date is Wednesday, Oct. 27. The parade will start at the east end of town, travel up East Pitt Street, and turn left onto Juliana Street, where it will pass in front of the judges stand before disbanding at the Bedford County Courthouse. The Everett Halloween parade will be held Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The parade will start at the east end of the borough and travel to the Everett Foodliner. Ducks Unlimited to host fundraiser.

Shawnee Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will be host Wing Night on Nov. 19 at the Bedford American Legion. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with food available at 6:15 p.m. During the evening, there will be a silent auction, games of chance and a gun raffle. Ducks Unlimited aids waterfowl projects and enhances and restores important wetlands and other habitats. Tickets are $25 per person and can be reserved by calling 814-652-6591 or 814-329-1819 or they may be purchased at the door.

Classes begin Nov. 2.

Freedom From Smoking classes will be held every Tuesday, Nov. 2 through Dec. 14, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce Building, 203 S. Juliana St., Bedford. The classes are hosted by the Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA. There is no fee to attend. Participants can receive free nicotine replacement therapy in the form of nicotine patches or gum and mints. Registration is required. Call 814-977-4455 to register or for more information.

Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies (WOSA) will offer the Ben & Carole Tresselt Scholarship. The application is available at www.theWOSA. The deadline to submit applications is Oct. 25. Street will be closed.

Bedford Township will close Greenwood Street on Monday, Oct. 25, for paving. The street will be closed, starting 7 a.m., until paving is completed.

Front page will have a blank block.

Beginning Oct. 26, the front page of the Tuesday through Saturday editions of the Bedford Gazette will have a blank spot in the lower right-hand corner. The blank area accommodates mailing labels for mail-only subscribers, but the newspapers delivered via carrier will sport only a blank white area in that location.

Trick or Treat Night is Oct. 30.

Snake Spring Township has set Trick or Treat Night for 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.

Trunk or Treat planned.

The Veterinary Medical Center, 609 Hospital Drive, Everett, will host its Second Annual Trunk or treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the center.

Craft show, bake sale set for Oct. 30.

Alum Bank Fire Company will host its annual craft show and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at the fire hall, 6738 King Saint Clair Road, near the intersection of routes 96 and 56, across from the Pleasantville Industrial Park. Orders are being accepted for homemade soups, including vegetable beef, beef noodle, and ham and bean. Donations of baked goods are welcome. Admission is free.
