Ray and Carol Evans celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary yesterday, Jan. 10. They were married at Gladden Run Revival Center, Hyndman, in a ceremony officiated by the Rev. Robert Williams.
Ray is the son of late George and Hazel Evans of Osterburg. Carol is the daughter of late Clinton “Doc” and Anna Winebrenner of Hyndman.
After graduating, the couple moved to the area of Silver Spring, Maryland. Ray was employed with Giant Food of Landover, Maryland, in October 1958. While working for Giant Food, Ray was a store manager, produce manager and receiver. Ray retired after working for Giant Food for 40 years and began working for Stouffers’ Funeral Home, Frederick, Maryland. Carol was self-employed, working in Montgomery County, Maryland. They lived in Mt. Airy, Maryland, since 1970 and moved home to Bedford in October 2006.
They have two daughters, Teresa Brandenburg, married to David, living in Manchester, Maryland, and Yvette Harrison, married to Timothy, living in Littlestown.
They have five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, with one on the way in April.
They celebrated with family and friends.
