  • 772A Notice of Intent to Remediate to an Environmental Standard Pursuant to the Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act, the act of May 19, 1995, P.L. 4, No. 1995-2 (Act 2), notice is hereby given that Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., on behalf of Agracel Inc., has submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, a Notice of Intent to Remediate the property located at 550 Sunnyside Road, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. This Notice of Intent to Remediate state that the site is a former exercise equipment manufacturing facility. The site has volatile organic compound impacts to soil and groundwater associated with historic operation as a manufacturing facility. The proposed remediation measures may include removal of underground storage tanks, engineering and institutional controls in the form of maintaining onsite building slabs and asphalt parking areas, and an environmental covenant to prevent contact with impacted soils and groundwater. The proposed future use of the property will be non-residential. Agracel plans to use the site-specific standard at the site. Act 2 provides for a 30-day public comment period for site specific standard remediation. The 30-day comment period is initiated with the publication of this notice. Until 10 days from the published date, Bedford Township may elect to be involved in the development of the remediation and reuse plans for the site. Bedford Township may also submit a request to Agracel during this 30- day comment period to develop and implement a public involvement plan. Copies of these requests and of any comments should also be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environment Protection at 909 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17110.
