  • 331A PUBLIC NOTICE Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Clean Streams Law and Surface Mining and Reclamation Act, notice is hereby given that J & J Svonavec Excavating, Inc., 110 Windermere Lane, Somerset, PA 15501 has submitted an application to the PA DEP, Bureau of District Mining Operations, 286 Industrial Park Road, Ebensburg, PA 15931-4119 for a revision to their existing surface mine permit #05070101. J & J Svonavec Excavating, Inc., is requesting approval to add 5.5 acres to the permit in order to modify and expand an existing passive mine drainage treatment system for long term water treatment. In conjunction with this revision, the operator is also requesting a variance on the 100' barrier of the East Fork of Brewster Hollow Run. The variance will begin approximately 380' south of the point where the East Fork crosses under T-596 Martin Farm Road, and extends downstream approximately 470' on the north side of the stream. The receiving streams for the permit area are Brewster Hollow Run and East Fork Brewster Hollow Run. The operation is located in Broad Top Township, Bedford County and is known as Reed Mine. The permit area is situated on the property of Reed Family Investments and Detwiler Industries, Inc., north of East Fork Brewster Hollow Run and on both sides of T-596, Martin Farm Road. The Saxton, PA U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute topographic map contains the area described 12.0 inches north and 10.7 inches west of the bottom right hand corner of the printed area of the map. Access to the operation is from T-596, Martin Farm Road. A copy of the application for revision is available for public inspection at the Broad Top Township Office, 187 Municipal Road, Defiance, PA 16633.
